Gigi D'Agostino, Torinese, classe '67, inizia a mixare nei primi anni '80. Nel 1995 approda nel team dell'etichetta Media Records, che diffonde la Mediterranean Progressive, lo stile inconfondibile inventato da Gigi. Oggi i dischi d'Oro e di Platino collezionati non si contano più, grazie a produzioni come la compilation "Le Voyage '96", l'album"Gigi D'Agostino" , i singoli "Bla Bla Bla, "L'Amour Toujours", "La Passion" e altre. Ampiamente premiato in Italia e in Europa; basti pensare che solo nel 2001 ha ricevuto premi come come Miglior Artista Dance agli ITALIAN MUSIC AWARDS e agli ITALIAN DANCE AWARDS, oltre che come Miglior Produttore Dance e come Artista Rappresentante dell'Italia nel Mondo.

E questo nuovo cd conferma le doti straordinarie di questo dj, alla costante ricerca della "fon-etica", ossia della musicalità delle parole; valorizzando non tanto ciò che si dice ma come lo si dice. Il testo di "Silence" infatti è stato cambiato rispetto alla versione originale, o come definisce lo stesso dj: "Tutto è stato riaccarezzato dalle sperimentazioni guidate dal mio stato d'animo...dal mio modo di vedere e di descrivere ciò che ho visto...". "Silence" (Vison 2) è una classica D'Agostino-song, che si muove su ritmi gitani, con onde del mare che si fondono con le sfaccettature più armoniose dell'elettronica: un connubio vincente e magico. "Silence" è anche presente nella "Vison" 3, l'episodio più prolisso del cd: ben 10 minuti!! La versione, allungata, iper-pompata e progressive, perde la magia della "Vison" 1, ma è ottima nei dancefloor ad alto godimento. Bellissima è "Complex": 9 minuti da brivido, distorta con effetti eco magici e allo stesso tempo caldi. I bassi diventano rampanti in "Sonata", che in 'soli' 5 minuti, avvolge e coinvolge, mentre "Apache" esce dal coro, affidandosi a campionamenti vocali ossessivi e ad un ritmo slowtechno. "Ripassa" è elettrotribale e ossessiva e "Pop corn" si avvale di un inciso orecchiabile e radiofonico, che sa di 'gia sentito'. Le belle fisarmoniche fanno da contorno ad un brano che spaccherebbe in due le piste da ballo e le classifiche. Altro titolo in italiano è "Percorrendo" che inizia a suon di bassi che pompano, per poi fondersi con un ritornello musicale melodioso e bello nella sua elettronicità. Chiude il cd la martellante "Son" (l'episodio più breve) ricca di voci campionate. In più, le "Vision" 2 di "Taurus", che si apre alla corte di Francia in stile Gabry Ponte e di "Hymn", più veloce e pompata, con sottofondo di cori, fischi da concerto e risatine distorte.

Un bel cd, realizzato da un vero maestro della dance, che torna a deliziarci e a scaldarci le nottate in discoteca. Un cd simbolo della 'mediterranean progressive', e per citare le sue parole "un movimento musicale, un'agitazione molecolare che conduce ad una riflessione sul silenzio".

E se il suo 'silenzio' suona così bene, figuriamoci la sua musica.
